MUSIC
"Those who sing, pray twice." ~ St. Augustine
Music is a central component in our liturgies at Saints Peter and John. Through the singing of hymns, Psalms, spirituals, and chants, we as a community raise our voices to God in praise. Instrumental music is provided at the 8 o’clock service while the 10 o’clock service is a Sung Eucharist in the Rite II tradition. Our Chancel Choir sings at the 10 am service every Sunday from September through May. Think this would be an added joy to your weekly routine? Talk to our Director of Music, Patrick McMullen, about joining the choir. You can also email the Music Ministry at [email protected]. |
The Osborne Memorial Pipe Organ
The organ in our church has been gracing our liturgies since 1887. It was originally built by Hilborne L Roosevelt and rebuilt in 1978 by Richard Strauss. As the instrument is approaching its 140th birthday, it is in need of substantial maintenance and repairs. If you would like to contribute to the organ fund to allow our instrument to be heard for the next century, contact the parish office. More information on the organ can be found: https://pipeorgandatabase.org/instruments/70014
